Bust of man, wearing soft hat over cap, enclosed in initial M decorated with foliate ornament. Margins decorated with foliate ornament and gold balls; in left margin, tonsured cleric, hands extended toward text of Collect. Pen flourished initials. Text is first lesson, first nocturn for Matins on 8.1, feast of Apostle Peter in Chains.
