Christ: in Gethsemane -- Three nimbed apostles sleep. Christ, rayed nimbus, kneels with arms crossed on breast beside river Cedron. With tear of blood falling from His eye, He looks up toward nimbed angel holding scroll. Second nimbed angel sits on rocky ledge with joined hands raised, looking toward Him.
Christ: Betrayal, Arrival in Garden -- In background, Judas and soldiers enter gate of garden.
Beyond garden is walled city of Jerusalem and river Cedron.
Frame:
Miniature within elaborate architectural frame inhabited by putti, some holding swags of floral ornament. At base, two putti hold scroll inscribed incipit of the Passion according to John.
On bottom frame, two putti, seated, point toward wreath enclosing coat of arms.
In left frame is medallion inscribed with motto, ROSE APRES LIVER
