Christ: Bewailing -- Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, seated, holds body of Christ, showing wounds, on her lap, flanked by Evangelist John, nimbed, kneeling, supporting Christ's head, and Mary Magdelen, nimbed, kneeling, with right hand raised to her face. At Christ's feet is ointment jar. Behind them, Joseph of Arimethea places shroud in sarcophagus, in front of rocks. Landscape with buildings in the distance.
Frame:
Miniature within elaborate architectural frame inhabited by putti, some holding swags of floral ornament.
