Month, Occupation: January -- Within room, man, wearing fur-lined garments, seated before fireplace, shoes removed, warms his hands and feet (warming himself). Youth kneels on ground beside him and next to cat. Behind first man, second man, holding bowl, is seated at table with vessels and candle. Woman serves him a platter of meat.
Room is furnished with chandelier and birdcage affixed to wall above fireplace. Kitchen visible through door in far wall. Woman tends fire. Scene within illusionistic wood frame.
