Virgin Mary: Annunciation -- Archangel Gabriel, holding golden rod, hovers in air above Virgin Mary, rays as nimbus, kneeling, hands raised, before open book on draped prie-dieu. Behind her hangs tapestry. Above, rays of light, carrying dove of Holy Ghost, descend toward the Virgin Mary from God, bearded, appearing (upper body only) in clouds above with hands joined. In background, beyond balcony, are several buildings set in hilly landscape.
Frame:
Miniature within elaborate architectural frame inhabited by putti, some holding swags of floral ornament. Two putti hold scroll inscribed with rubrics and incipit of Advent Hours of the Virgin.
