Virgin Mary and Christ Child: Type, Suckling -- Virgin Mary, with rayed nimbus, seated on throne with feet on cushion, with right hand indicates bared left breast from which streams milk toward nude Christ Child, with crossed rayed nimbus, held in left hand of the Virgin Mary. Above is canopy inscribed MATER DEI MEM[ENTO], with curtains held open by two angels. Flanking the Virgin are angel, kneeling and playing lute held in both hands, and female donor, veiled, kneeling or standing with joined hands raised. Miniature framed by columns decorated with flowers and leaves, each topped by prophet (?) wearing hat.
