Miniature, column, left: Nicholas of Myra, nimbed, wearing bishop’s miter and vestments, with gloved right hand raised in blessing and with left hand holding crozier, seated on throne of the canopy type. At his feet, open book with pseudo-inscriptions on ground beside kneeling male donor, wearing belted purse, with joined hands raised, and from which issues scroll inscribed ORA SANCTE NICHOLAE ORA PRO ME. Scene in room with arched windows on far wall. Miniature at beginning of Collect for Feast of Nicholas of Myra (12.06). Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration inhabited by monkey, wearing hood (upper); owl (right); and hybrid bird (lower).
