Virgin Mary: reading -- Initial B enclosing half-figure of Virgin Mary, nimbed, right hand raised to book open on lectern before her.
Right margin decorated with border of ivy rinceaux inhabited by: fantastic animal wearing tabor around neck, holding drumstick with right front paw; hybrid man with animal ears, possibly extending tongue toward bone (?) held with right hand.
