Miniature at beginning of First Lesson in Matins for Feast of Apostle Matthias (02.24). Initial U enclosing half figure of Apostle Matthias, nimbus as rays, gesturing; against blue background. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, including strawberry, inhabited by lion as bishop, wearing miter with infulae and collar, with tongue protruding (left).
