Miniature, column, left: Evangelist Mark, nimbed, seated on chair on which is mounted desk and unfurling scroll with pseudo-inscriptions, with left hand holding knife and with right hand holding pen, beside symbol of Lion from jaws issuing scroll inscribed SANCTUS MARCUS EUANGELIST. On far wall is hung tablet mounting leaf of pseudo-inscriptions and shelf holding two books with clasps. Scene in room with wooden ceiling, two doorways and two arched windows and tiled floor. Miniature at beginning of Chapter and First Lesson in Matins for Feast of Evangelist Mark (04.25). Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration inhabited by half figures of two prophets, one with left hand raised, both emerging from clouds, holding scrolls inscribed S(AN)C(T)A Q(UA)TUOR and P(RE)UIDENT (right).
