Miniature, column, right: Augustine of Hippo, nimbed, mitered, wearing bishop’s vestment fastened with morse, seated on chair decorated with bust of figure, with gloved right hand holding heart pierced with two arrows and with gloved left hand extended to open book with pseudo-inscriptions on lectern. To left, angel, nimbed, with right hand extended; crozier in left background. Scene in room with arched window decorated with face of Christ (?) and tiled floor. Miniature at beginning of Collect for Feast of Augustine of Hippo (08.28). Initial A enclosing half figure of Augustine of Hippo, mitered, wearing vestments, with right hand raised in blessing. Initials Q and C enclosing heads of men, wearing hats, at beginnings of Sixth and Eighth Lessons. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, inhabited by two half figures of angels, gesturing or with joined hands raised, emerging from clouds (left).
