Miniature, column, right: Moses: Serpent of Brass -- Accompanied by four Israelites (most with only heads visible), wearing hats, one with right hand holding gloves, Moses, horned, with left hand holding rod, raises right hand to indicate forked pole upon which is brazen serpent. At right, two men, wearing hats, in conversation with each other and four helmeted soldiers, holding spears. Scene in hilly landscape, and on path are walking men, at least two on horseback, city buildings in far distance; gold sky. Miniature at beginning of Antiphon and Chapter for Feast of Exaltation of the Cross (09.14). Initial S enclosing half figure of man, with right hand raised, at beginning of Chapter. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, including strawberry, inhabited by half figures of two angels, gesturing or with joined hands raised, emerging from clouds (left).
