Miniature, column, right: Severinus of Cologne, nimbed, mitered, wearing bishop’s vestments fastened with morse, with draped right hand holding open book and with gloved left hand holding crozier, flanked by four kneeling angels, the foremost two gesturing. In background right, altar (partly visible) draped with cross-inscribed cloth. Figures beneath arches in room with five arched windows, four decorated with portrait busts, relief of figures on far wall, and tiled floor. Miniature at beginning of Collect for Feast of Severinus of Cologne (10.23). Initial D enclosing head of men, wearing hat, at beginning of Collect, "Deus qui nos in tantis periculis constitutos ..." Initial D enclosing head of men, wearing hat, at beginning of Collect, "Deus qui beatum seuerinum confessorem tuum ataque pontificem ..." Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, inhabited by six busts of possibly helmeted soldiers, gesturing and emerging out of foliate buds (left); and half figures of men, with hands raised, amid foliage (lower).
