Miniature, column, right: Clement of Rome, nimbed, wearing cross-surmounted triple-crowned papal tiara and cope fastened with jeweled morse, seated on throne, with right hand on book on lap and with left hand holding key, flanked by two figures partly visible in doorway and tonsured acolyte, or priest, with both hands holding cross-staff, before figures, partly visible; architectural setting and tiled floor. Miniature at beginning of Collect for Feast of Clement of Rome (11.23). Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, including strawberry, inhabited by two prophets, wearing hats, emerging from clouds, holding scrolls inscribed S(ANC)TE CLEMEN(TI)S and ORA P(RO) NOB(IS) (right).
