Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, receiving News of Death of Florentius -- Accompanied by five cowled monks, one holding book in arms, Benedict of Montecassino, nimbed, wearing hooded monk’s habit, reads from letter beside monk (messenger), tonsured, wearing habit with water-bottle tied to belt, with left hand holding staff. Scene in hilly landscape with city, crenellated walls, dry moat, and other buildings, one cross-surmounted, five lit by torches, and one with banner in background; trees, some bearing fruit. Miniature within frame for Chapter 8 of Book II of Dialogues; Benedict of Montecassino receives news that Florentius the Cleric has died.
