Joachim: Annunciation -- Joachim, wearing hat and fur-lined mantle, with right hand raised and with left hand on staff, looking up toward bust of angel, holding blank scroll, emerging from cloud. Shepherd, leaning on pedum, amid flocks of sheep in hilly landscape, buildings in far background. Scene within initial D at beginning of Lauds, Hours of the Virgin. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, inhabited by half figures of at least eight figures, including two men, wearing hats; monkey holding a mirror; animal, possibly bear; and at least two helmeted soldiers, one raising sword and one holding shield; all emerging out of foliate buds.
