Christ: Presentation -- Joseph the Carpenter, holding basket with right hand and candle with left hand kneels behind Virgin Mary, veiled, kneeling before altar draped with cross inscribed cloth. Beneath canopy, nude Christ Child, nimbed, right arm extended toward Mary, and looking toward her, is held over altar on draped hands of Simeon of Jerusalem, wearing turban style of headgear with point, standing on other side of altar. Another man, wearing headgear, stands at his right hand. In background is large group of men and women, some only partially visible, holding candles.
