In initial N, John Baptist, nimbed, indicating with right hand, disk held with draped left hand, on which is lamb holding bannered tau cross-staff. Possibly thistle at termination of initial descender. Pen-flourished initials. Text is first lesson in first Nocturn for Matins on 6.24, feast of birth of John Baptist.
