Scene, Ecclesiastic: Preaching -- Monk, nimbed and tonsured, in pulpit gesturing with left hand. Men wearing hats or headgear, and women, veiled sit, one woman with book in lap. Margins decorated with border of floreate ornament including grapes, strawberry, bladder cherry, campanula, daisy and rose, and inhabited by wild man holding spear astride fantastic animal (Scene, Burlesque: Riding), and fantastic bird. Text is first lesson in first nocturn for Matins on Sunday within the Octave of the Ascension.
