1) Virgin Mary: Annunciation -- Archangel Gabriel, pearled nimbus, stands with right hand indicating scroll inscribed AVE MARIA GRACIA, based on Luke 1:28, in left hand, beside veiled Virgin Mary, pearled nimbus, standing with her right hand raised and book in her left hand; vase of flowers between the two figures.
Scene in initial D decorated with foliate and geometric ornament and diapered spandrels.
2) Margins - Rectilinear bars decorated with interlace and foliage, enclosing six heraldic shields, including Hangest (one) and Count of Grandpré (one), and two terminal heads of men, one bearded, wearing cap, and inhabited by two birds, two rabbits including one standing, holding bannered spear impaled with dog's head, two hybrid animals, and two hybrid men.
