Zone 1:
1) Samuel: communicating with God -- Samuel, head draped, kneels with joined hands raised toward Christ-Logos, cross-nimbed, emerging from clouds; tree. Illustration of I Samuel 16:1-3.
2) Samuel: offering Heifer -- To right, Samuel, head draped, holds horned sheep and looks toward six elders of Bethlehem, one wearing pointed cap, some gesturing, before portal. Illustration of I Samuel 16:4.
Zone 2:
1) David: chosen by Samuel -- Samuel, head draped, raises right hand toward Jesse, wearing pointed cap, with right hand raised, and with left hand grasping right hand of one son with left hand raised, among six sons. Illustration of I Samuel 16:6-12.
