Above them is half figure of angel, head surmounted by cross, holding open book face out, indicating page with left hand. In background shepherd, playing bagpipe, sits facing dog, amid sheep.
Scene in hilly landscape with trees and rocky outcrops.
Miniature and text framed on three sides by rectilinear bars of gold decorated with vine scroll. Margins decorated with border of vine scroll.
