Catherine of Alexandria, nimbed, crowned, holding sword in right hand and martyr's palm in left hand, stands on Maxentius, crowned, laying on tiled floor. Behind her is wheel. Figure in room with leaded-glass windows and cloth wall hanging.
Margins with foliate and vinescroll ornament. In lower margin is helmeted soldier, wearing long surcoat, holding raised sword in right hand and in left hand, severed head of crowned king and shield (escutcheon) with arms of Sivry (barry of twelve argent and azure).
