Miniature, upper left: 1) Christ: appearing to Peter and appearing to Holy Women -- In background, Apostle Peter, nimbed, crosses left hand on breast, before Christ, cross-nimbed, head inclined, extending left forefinger toward the Peter. Three Holy Women, nimbed and veiled with wimple, kneel or stand, the foremost two with joined hands raised, before another Christ, cross-nimbed, gesturing toward them. Miniature, lower left: 2) Christ: appearing to Apostles -- Christ, cross-nimbed, partly draped with mantle, bared breast, holding cross-staff with cross-inscribed banner in right hand, raises left hand, surrounded by twelve nimbed Apostles, the foremost including Evangelist John, with left hand raised, and Apostle Peter, extending his hands to the Christ. Miniature, upper right: 3) Christ: on Road to Emmaus -- Christ, cross-nimbed, wearing pilgrim’s hat, with right hand holds cross-staff with cross-inscribed banner, and with left hand gestures to His right and looks to His left toward one of two disciples as pilgrims, flanking Him, both nimbed, wearing pilgrim’s hats, and holding staffs. Miniature, lower right: 4) Christ: appearing in Jerusalem -- Christ, cross-nimbed, partly draped with mantle, bared breast, with left hand holding cross-staff with cross-inscribed banner, surrounded by and addressing nine apostles including Apostle Peter, all nimbed, all behind draped table set with two cups, two knives, round loaves, and bowls (banquet). Miniatures are proofs for Bernhart Richel’s Spiegel der Menschlichen Bahältnis (Basel: 1476) with biblical quotes, possible commentary and abbreviated extracts, written in German, for an extended Chapter 32 of the Speculum Humanae Salvationis.
