Upper half: Rebecca: sought in Marriage -- At left, Rebecca, veiled with wimple, extending hands to Isaac, wearing hat, grasping her right hand with his left. From chapter 24 of Genesis. Jacob and Esau: Selling of Birthright (?) -- Flanked by two trees, two youthful men, one gesturing, the other with right hand on breast, facing each other. From chapter 25 of Genesis. Jacob: instructed by Rebecca -- At right, Rebecca, inscribed REBACCA, veiled with wimple, extending right hand to Jacob inscribed IACOB, hide of small animal over right arm, extending bowl toward Isaac, raising spoon to mouth with right hand, extending left hand to right arm of Jacob, and sitting in draped bed with canopy. From chapter 27 of Genesis. Lower half: Esau: hunting -- At left, Esau, inscribed ESAU, standing on rocky outcrop, aiming arrow in bow at trees. Isaac: blessing Jacob -- Below, Jacob, inscribed IACOB, extending with both hands, bowl of food toward Isaac, eyes closed, joined hands raised, seated in draped bed with canopy. Both scenes from chapter 27 of Genesis. Jacob: Dream -- Jacob, inscribed IACOB, eyes closed, right hand raised to head, semi-reclining on rocky outcrop next to ladder on which climb two angels toward cloud at top.
