Thomas ³l Becket: murdered before High Altar -- Helmeted soldier, holding saber raised in both hands, stands behind man, wearing hat, with sword at waist, raising in right hand dagger above head of Thomas ³l Becket, nimbed, tonsured, wearing priest's vestments and stole, bleeding from wound in head, kneeling with joined hands raised before draped, curtained altar, upon which are book with two clasps, chalice, and lighted candle. Before retable is vision (?) of Virgin Mary, crowned, emanating rays, holding nude infant Christ Child. Diaper background.
Margins with ivy-rinceaux and foliate ornament.
